Traffic Shaping Gateway
CacheGuard manages the QoS using the Traffic Shaping technology and ensure an optimized bandwidth management.
CacheGuard Traffic Shaping
Because in your organization your hosted Web applications and/or Web users don’t have the same requirements in terms of the network usage, you need to care about the right usage of your available network bandwidth. Otherwise your precious bandwidth can be wasted by users browsing intensive bandwidth-consuming websites such as YouTube and FaceBook at the expense of poor bandwidth for VIPs or critical hosted Web applications.
CacheGuard ensure an optimized bandwidth management to share the available network bandwidth between PCs, servers and other connected devices in your organization according to rules that you specify. In addition, CacheGuard schedules the transmission of packets in order to ensure fairness so that each Web user or Web application in a network is able to receive data in turn, thus preventing any single user from drowning out the rest. CacheGuard can process the traffic in forwarding mode as well as in reverse mode.
Multi WAN Load Sharing & Failover
CacheGuard can share the network traffic on two or more external networks and in case of a failure on an external network, instantly route the network traffic via operational networks. This way, you have the possibility to implement multiple Internet accesses in your organization in order to to offer enhanced QoS to your users.
Powered by IPRoute2
CacheGuard integrates the IPRoute2 Linux kernel module. If you are familiar with Linux, NetFilter, complex configuration files, the IPRoute2 tc command and have the time and patience to configure all those tools to match your requirements in terms of capacity and performance, you can probably develop your traffic shaper yourself. Otherwise you can implement CacheGuard within minutes and start shaping the traffic straight way.
You can learn more about CacheGuard Traffic Shaper in the CacheGuard User’s Guide.
CacheGuard is not just a Traffic Shaper but it is a Firewall, a VPN server, a Gateway Antivirus, a Web Proxy, a URL Guard, a Reverse Web Proxy, a WAF, a Web Cache, a Web Compressor, an SSL Mediator/Inspector and much more.
