HTTP Compression

All modern Web browsers support HTTP compression. This allows to Web servers to deliver textual contents to clients in gzip compressed format. CacheGuard allows compress these contents on behalf of Web servers without any further modification on Web servers.

Compression Card

HTTP Compression For a better bandwidth saving, CacheGuard OS may compress HTML traffics. This feature is specially interesting when using a low bandwidth internal network (WIFI, WAN...) . When using the compression mode, textual files are compressed before sent to Web browsers. Normally, the CPU of your hardware do the compression task.

If the CPU is not powerful enough, the compression process may produce latency and in some cases the CacheGuard Box become the bottleneck of the network. The Compression Card allows to optimize the compression mode by freeing the CPU for other tasks. The compression module in CacheGuard OS is wired to the Compression Card and allows to optimise consequently the compression task.

The Compression Card is a PCI-X, 64-bit, 133 Mhz, half height, short edge card interface - To install the Compression Card, a free PCI-X slot is required in your Box. The compression card may compress up to 3 Gbps.
